뮤지션으로서 밴드와 솔로, 양쪽에서 성공을 거두기란 결코 쉽지 않다. 김윤아는 두 고지에 모두 오른 대표적인 음악가다. 그는 자우림의 보컬리스트이자 메인 작곡가로서 팀의 고유한 색깔을 완성했고, 자신의 이야기를 전하는 싱어송라이터로서 독자적인 음악 세계를 펼쳤다. 1997년 데뷔한 자우림과 2001년 첫 앨범을 낸 솔로 아티스트 김윤아는 그렇게 각기 다른 영역에서 빛나는 궤적을 그려왔다.

Achieving success in a career that spans being both in a band and a solo artist is never easy for a musician, but Kim Yuna has done exactly that. As the main vocalist and composer for Jaurim she puts the finishing touch on the Korean rock band's unique color, while also showcasing her own unique musical world as a solo singer and songwriter. These two shining trajectories in different fields trace their origin back to Jaurim's debut in 1997, and her first solo album in 2001.

As a singer-songwriter, Kim Yuna excels in both creativity and expression. The first thing you notice about her is her voice, one that Koreans since Jaurim's debut have a deep familiarity with. The power of her vocals comes from its outstanding tone, wide vocal range, stability, and delicate expression. Her charm as a solo vocalist was first imprinted on the public through the song One Fine Spring Day (2001), which was the theme song for the movie of the same name and featured in her first solo album.

Kim Yuna is an outstanding melody creator and sensual sound designer. The Korean public has been taken by one song after another of hers with their different moods and textures, such as 'Wall' (2001), 'Nocturne' (2004), 'When Spring Comes' (2004), and 'Going Home' (2010). The melodies are what absorb the listener: at times cold and piercing, and at other times infinitely lyrical and warm. Kim Yuna fashions her musical world using a number of sound designs that include guitar- and piano-centered pop sounds, rich orchestration, mournful and intense tango, and cold and mysterious electronic sounds and ambience. Her musical spectrum knows no limit when it comes to genre.

She is also an excellent lyricist, a storyteller who excels at capturing common events and emotions that occur in everyday life and weaving them into her own refined language. These include indelible loneliness and sadness deep in the heart, human-to-human relationships, and insights into the lives and society around her.

Kim Yuna breathes life into her lyrics using phrases about solitude and the world in which we coexist. Her personal and universal lyrics, such as 'Sometimes' (2001), 'Hate is My Strength' (2004), 'Black River' (2010), and 'Kyrie' (2016), have touched the lives of countless people.

She pursues her own path as a band member and solo artist and is a role model for many younger musicians. Many female singer-songwriters who have emerged since the 2000s are fans of hers in particular, with her influence reaching musicians such as Yozoh, Sunwoo Jung-a, Rooftop Moonlight, and Kim Sawol

One concert that she held in Seoul in 2019 was entitled "May life be beautiful even if the songs are sad". The title of this concert encapsulates her views as a musician with respect to life, as this poignancy in music can act as a sort of catharsis which ultimately results in greater happiness. Kim Yuna sings about both the sadness and beauty of life...and is now on the cusp of releasing her new album.
